WHO WE ARE

Scottsdale Institute is a not-for-profit organization serving executives in a limited number of leading health systems who wish to share experiences in information technology management. We facilitate collaboration and networking on IT topics including strategy, deployment, adoption, national direction and trends, benchmarking and benefits realization.

Fifty member organizations stay current on strategic issues through SI. We emphasize the role of business and clinical process owners of IT investments, and related process redesign and culture change. This assists the CEO, CMO, CIO and the entire transformation team. Anyone in a member system can access SI resources; we do not limit access to a number of "seats", nor to a specific level in the organization.

Stan Nelson, Chairman; Margaret Hahn, Executive Assistant; Shelli Williamson, Executive Director; Jean Appleby, Conference Administrator; Chuck Appleby, Director of Publications; Don Wegmiller, Vice Chairman. Missing: Ricki Levitan, Teleconference Administrator; Nancy Navarrette, Webmaster; Cynthia Pratt, Communications Coordinator.
WHAT WE DO

Collaboration and Networking:  Collaboration and networking are the primary purpose of the Scottsdale Institute, and are emphasized throughout all SI Programs. Leading provider organizations join SI to share what they have learned about enabling their organizations quality improvement, process redesign, outcomes, and cost-structure initiatives through information technology, and to learn from other leaders. Members can also form collaboratives on topics of their own choosing that are project or discussion-based.

Teleconferences:  Anyone in a member organization can participate in weekly teleconference presentations and discussions at no charge. These sessions allow for open dialog, Q&A, and follow-up contacts; the content is top-notch and practical. In 2010, 8000 member associates participated in 78 teleconference sessions.

Conferences and Forums:  In-person conferences foster interaction among executive peers and other leaders. The goal is informal, open dialog and a venue for sharing accomplishments, results and learning. Members can download all past conference materials.

Publications:  The Inside Edge and CEO Viewpoint - Monthly executive reviews for busy healthcare leaders; written without techno-jargon, these publications provide an easy-to-understand discussion of healthcare-IT issues. They are meant to be shared with all stakeholders.

SI IT Benchmarking:  Are you accurately comparing your IT spend and MU status with peer organizations? If so, do you have a mechanism for networking with those peers regarding successful practices and lessons learned? The SI IT Benchmarking Program:

  • uniquely and easily normalizes your data with peers (creating apples-to-apples views)
  • uses data that is specific to healthcare provider organizations only
  • is no charge to your organization
  • is anonymous unless users mutually agree
  • is available only to program participants
  • does not sell your data
